Geography Class update - week 2

The students did an AMAZING job with their map - very creatively and colorfully done!  Here are a few highlights:

We wrapped up our map scavenger hunt.  If your student did not finish their map, they will need to come in a little early or stay a little late next week to finish up.

Next, we talked about the five themes of Geography, the seasons and the tropics, the layers of earth, plate tectonics, continents, and landforms.  (Oh my!)

With all of that, there are 2 upcoming projects.  Due next week, the students each chose a continent to research.  They have a form to fill out covering population statistics, large cities, and fun things like places that the students might like to visit.  With the continent fact sheet, the students are to create an oversized post card (an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper would be perfect!) with an image (or a collage of images) of a place they might like to visit from their assigned continent.

Our next project is an edible landform.  The students each chose a landform and they will do an edible creation of that place as well as a poster with information about that type of landform.  All instructions are on the sheet given in class.  The edible landform is not due until October 3.

Homework:
1.  Read pages 20 - 33 in the text book
2.  Complete the question handout (3 pages - including the lists of landforms)
3. Complete your continent fact sheet (information will need to be researched online) and post card
4.  Begin researching your landform project (it's not due til October 3)
