In class today, the students learned about the concept of HUBRIS - what it means and where they have seen examples of it in our plays. They were then asked to think about books they have read and movies they have seen that might have further examples.
Our plays from today were "Eros and Psyche - parts 1 and 2" - one of the very few Greek myths with a happy ending.
Field Trips: Each student is required to do two cultural events. I have a field trip scheduled for the class on Saturday November 9th at Trinity Lutheran Church - we will have a Roman banquet. Cost is $18/student and reservations must be made by October 26. There is a limited space so it's possible that all slots will be filled before the cut off date. If you are able to attend, please bring payment to reserve your spot as soon as possible. If you cannot go, please contact me and I can make some suggestions for other events/museums you might attend instead. (Note that there is a second event scheduled for March - a Viking feast - you can wait to register for this one in January/February.)
Engrade: All grades are posted through www.engrade.com. On the first day of classes your student was given an access code. If you have not registered and you need this code, please let me know and I'll email it to you. Grades are typically entered within 24 hours of the class (today's grades will be posted by September 30th as Mrs Harris is currently out of the country!) so that progress can be monitored at anytime.
Tuition: If you are on the monthly payment plan, tuition for October is due next week.
1. In complete, well thought out sentences, answer the discussion questions at the end of each play.
2. Next god presentation due next week.
3. Continue to work on your omg project
4. If you were not satisfied with your Greek/Roman god quiz and would like to take it again - you MUST email Mrs Harris that you would like to retake it. The quiz will be given at 8:50am on October 3.
