In the first we learned how the Greeks might have used mythology to explain events in nature - but there is more to the story than that. The story delves into two types of love - love of self (narcissism) and then unrequited love (the "love" that Echo feels for Narcissus). This story with a tragic ending is more typical of mythology than the play we read last week.
Our next play focused Daedalus as he is trying to make a name for himself in Athens - long before he designed the labyrinth for King Minos.
Homework:
- We will continue with "Daedalus and Icarus next week" - you don't need to complete the play or do the discussion questions.
- Do answer the discussion questions at the end of "Narcissus and Echo" and "The Inventor's Apprentice." Make sure that your sentences are complete and well thought out.
